- SYMPTOMS include the tongue becoming blackened and elongation of the thread
- like elevations (called papillae) that cover the tongue. No pain.
- CAUSES are from an overgrowth of fungi that may be the result of too many
- bacteria being killed by an antibiotic treatment.
- TREATMENT. Brushing the tongue and antifungal medication may be prescribed.
